Product Description
This USB camera module has a maximum resolution of 16MP and uses the SONY IMX298 CMOS sensor, which was released in June 2015. The sensor has a photosensitive area of 1/2.8 inches and a unit pixel size of 1.12μm. It supports up to 16 million pixels (4608*3456 resolution) for image output. The IMX298 features an RGBW four-color architecture, which supports PDAF phase focusing and high dynamic range HDR recording.
Compared to the traditional RGBG (Bayer array) arrangement, which consists of one red pixel, two green pixels, and one blue pixel in a 2x2 pattern, the RGBW arrangement replaces one of the green pixels with a white pixel. This allows the CMOS to receive more external light, improving sensitivity in dim situations, particularly night shots.
